Athens coffee is strongest when the route moves beyond the obvious old-centre cafe stop: Thissio, Exarchia, Kolonaki, Pangrati, Neo Psichiko, and Peristeri each carry a different version of the city's specialty scene.
Athens is a serious coffee city, but the best stops are not one neat neighborhood trail. The useful route starts around the historic centre and Exarchia, then stretches east to Pangrati and north or west for roasters whose reputations were built through competition, training, and daily service rather than decor alone.
