A Roastworks

Green Ville / Duri Kepa, Jakarta

Visit the Green Ville roastery for a choice of espresso and filter coffees, then stay upstairs for carbonara, ox-tail soup or tiramisu.

Share

A Roastworks occupies a three-storey building in Green Ville, a residential part of west Jakarta beyond the central business districts. The working roastery fills the ground floor with coffee sacks, storage containers and production equipment; upstairs, stainless steel and warm wood shape the cafe, with a vinyl-listening corner softening the industrial room. This is easiest to justify as a planned coffee-and-meal stop, particularly if the west side of the city already fits the day.

There is plenty to choose from: several espresso options, rotating single origins and manual filter, plus a kitchen making savoury dishes and desserts. Prices are above a neighbourhood cup and parking is limited. The 9pm Friday-to-Sunday close makes an evening meal possible too.

Coffee

A Roastworks began in 2018. Its Green Ville flagship offers named house blends alongside rotating single-origin espresso. Peanut Butter is a rounded option for milk drinks; Black and Gold offers a different house profile. Founder Andrew Tandra also coaches competition baristas, including Yanuar Arlief, who placed third in the 2026 Indonesia Barista Championship.

The five-ounce white and dirty latte are useful milk-drink options. With several coffees available, ask the barista to narrow the choice by the flavours you enjoy.

Filter

The roastery stores a much wider green-coffee range than it roasts at any one time, keeping the cafe list selective. Indonesian lots share the board with coffees from origins such as Ethiopia, Panama and Colombia, and the current retail line-up changes often enough that a specific farm should never be treated as permanent. Ask which coffees have rested and are ready to drink, then choose between a cleaner washed profile and a fruitier natural or processed lot.

Manual brew is a central part of the visit, with enough choice for the barista conversation to matter. Ask about the roast and expected body of the particular lot before choosing. The changing selection makes that more useful than assuming every coffee follows the same roast profile.

Food

The kitchen makes breakfast, pasta, Indonesian comfort dishes and desserts from scratch. O.G Carbonara and Mama Rosa's Ox Tail Soup are substantial options; toasts cover a lighter meal, with tiramisu to follow.

The kitchen makes this an easy choice for a group who want lunch as well as coffee. Tables tend to stay for meals and second drinks, especially at weekends.

Service & Room

The ground-floor production area gives the building its identity before the cafe upstairs opens into a calmer mix of steel, timber and soft seating. Coffee books, retail bags and the record player reinforce that this is a roaster's headquarters rather than a decorative cafe. The room suits a catch-up, a solo filter and a meal; quieter weekday stretches can also support a work session, though weekend traffic brings a livelier pace.

The team can help narrow the espresso and filter choices and explain brewing recipes. Arrival by car is less straightforward: on-site space is tight, with valet help sometimes available. Allow time to park.

Why Filter Notes shortlisted A Roastworks

Allow time for a meal at the Green Ville roastery. The espresso choices, rotating filters and upstairs vinyl corner give you plenty of reasons to linger, and weekends run into the evening. Parking is tight and a full order can be expensive.
