Coffee
Commercial's strength is choice without menu sprawl. The grinders may carry Swiss roasters such as MAME, Rose or Balloon alongside coffees from farther afield, and the barista can steer the same preference toward espresso, a milk drink, or filter. Ask what is tasting cleanest or most fruit-led rather than defaulting to the house option; this is a counter where a short conversation materially improves the order.
Espresso remains the quickest way into the place. A straight shot shows the calibration and water work that Spanoudakis puts at the centre of the bar, while a cappuccino or flat white gives the coffee enough milk to soften a more expressive roast without erasing it. Freddo espresso, matcha, cold coffee, decaf, and plant milk widen the menu, but they do not distract from the main reason to come.

Hand brew is a proper lane here, not a decorative V60 on the shelf. The offer changes with the guest roaster and available lot, and the useful question is what the bar has already dialled in rather than which origin sounds most exotic. That narrow offer suits the room. Coffee plus one pastry is the right order; anyone looking for a substantial breakfast should eat elsewhere and keep Commercial as the sharper second stop. The tradeoff is plain: the pastry can make a longer coffee feel complete, but it is not a reason to plan lunch around Feldstrasse.
Service & Room
The original's minimal fit-out leaves little distance between guest and bar. A few closely spaced tables, several window-facing seats, and a handful of pavement tables make it possible to linger, read, or work during quieter weekday hours. At busy times the same dimensions become the constraint, and weekend laptop rules protect the limited tables. Come expecting a coffee bar with seats, not a co-working room.
Service is at its best when it becomes a coffee conversation: flavour preference first, bean and brew method second. That personal exchange is the reason to choose Feldstrasse over the second Commercial counter inside the Cadillac showroom on Bahnhofstrasse. The city-centre location is larger and calmer for a shopping-route coffee; the original gives the brand its close-up, barista-led character.
