Willing Coffee occupies an old corner deli at Central Avenue and Clifton Crescent in Mount Lawley, north of central Perth. Look for the restored Peters Ice Cream mural, then choose a small pavement table beneath the striped awning or a seat inside. The room shares its address with Bar Vino, so a morning coffee stop can stretch into an Italian lunch.
Tim and Veronique Willing opened this second cafe in 2019, following their Guildford original. Reclaimed timber inside and the old shopfront outside preserve the former deli. Come here for a sit-down breakfast with a changing coffee selection; a flat white and lemon ricotta hot cakes make a good starting order.
Coffee
Willing's house coffee comes from Cauca in Colombia. Alongside it, the wider coffee programme brings in roasters such as Twin Peaks, Sey, Passenger and Prodigal, with the available coffees changing through the year. Ask which beans are on espresso before ordering a long black or milk drink. The daytime menu also covers iced coffee, chai and matcha, with oat, soy, almond and lactose-free milk available. Retail bags offer a way to take a favourite home.
Filter
Guest-roaster batch brew is another reason to stop at Central Avenue. Ask what is open that morning and check the price of the particular coffee: the menu lists filter from A$5.50, so different beans can cost more.
Food
The kitchen goes well beyond a pastry cabinet. Lemon ricotta hot cakes come with blueberry sauce and creme fraiche; grilled ciabatta carries prosciutto and stracciatella, or roast tomato, burrata and basil. Granola and house-made banana bread cover a smaller appetite. Breakfast runs Tuesday to Friday from 7am to 11am, and until 11:30am on weekends. Lunch starts at noon, bringing dishes such as lamb-ragu casarecce. Between kitchen services, coffee and lighter food remain available.
Service & Room
Take a seat for table service when eating in; takeaway orders go through the counter. The small outdoor tables suit a coffee and a catch-up. Service can be uneven, and coffee prices sit above a basic takeaway stop. Breakfast is walk-in only. Bring a card: the venue is cashless, with a 15% public-holiday surcharge. Willing also has cafes in Guildford and on West Parade, both mapped below.
