From Humblebee’s small Mount Hawthorn cafe, northwest of central Perth, you can look through a glass partition into the roasting and packing area. The Coogee Street espresso blend takes its name from the address; rotating single origins give you more to explore by pour-over. Come to taste the roaster’s coffees where they are made, then choose a bag for home.
Coffee
Coogee Street is the signature seasonal blend, developed for espresso and milk drinks. For a different coffee, ask which single origins are being brewed. The roastery’s weekly micro-lot selection identifies farms, varieties and processing methods, giving you something specific to discuss with the barista when choosing.
Recent filter releases have included Kenya Kiamugumo AA and washed Ethiopia Chelle. These are examples of the rotation, so check the day’s pour-over choices before settling on a bag. Beans and brewing gear are sold here; ask the barista for advice on brewing your choice at home.
Food & Room
Pastries and house-made Basque cheesecake make this a coffee-and-cake stop; the cheesecake is sold by the slice until it runs out. There are only a few seats inside and outside, so keep takeaway in mind if the tables are full. Come in the morning for a pour-over and cake: weekdays finish at 1pm and weekends at 2pm.
