At Three Keys' South Union roastery, south of downtown Houston, a trumpet-and-coffee mural covers the warehouse shutter beside a small takeaway window. The roastery sells its own coffee by the cup and bag, with suggested soundtracks for the beans you take home.
Coffee
Three Keys was founded by Kenzel and Tio Fallen in 2019 and takes its name from the trumpet's three valves. Its Jazz+Coffee guide pairs musical styles with coffee flavours. The range includes blends such as Round Midnight and 33-1/3 LP alongside changing single origins; ask which coffee is being brewed before ordering a pour-over.
Alongside espresso drinks, the Foster Street menu has a cold brew shandy: coffee concentrate mixed with lemonade. For a milk drink, read the sizes: the listed cortado is eight ounces, with two ounces of espresso and six of milk. Chai and matcha give non-coffee drinkers a choice.
The visit
Look for the painted forecourt and the window under a small metal awning. This is a working warehouse with takeaway service and no indoor seating, so plan a coffee stop rather than a long sit-down visit. Three Keys' separate counter at Finn Hall, 712 Main Street, is the central option when you want coffee with the food hall's seating and meal choices.
