BlendIn Coffee Club's Allen Parkway cafe is in Montrose, west of downtown Houston near Buffalo Bayou Park. It occupies part of a renovated former theatre, with broad windows, pale walls, a long counter, small tables and shelves of coffee. Customers use the bright room for coffee and laptop work.
BlendIn roasts its coffee in Houston, with traceable farm and lot information. The café serves espresso, pour-over, decaf and seasonal drinks, with beans to take home. It closes at 3pm, and parking can be scarce or paid.
BlendIn has one other Houston-area café, at its Sugar Land roastery. Head there for the roasting side of the business. Allen Parkway is the inner-city stop if you want to pair coffee with a walk by Buffalo Bayou.
Coffee
Bonfire, a washed Catuai from Panama's Finca Lorayne, has been used as the house espresso. The changing range also includes single-farm coffees from Panama, Ethiopia, Colombia, Burundi and Ecuador. Ask what is on the grinder before ordering.
Founder Weihong Zhang moved from biochemistry into coffee and won the 2024 U.S. Brewers Cup with a fully decaffeinated Typica. The cafe serves decaf and rare coffees alongside espresso and seasonal drinks.
Filter
The changing pour-over selection includes Geisha and other single-origin coffees, with washed, natural and experimental processes. Ask which coffees are available and describe the flavours you enjoy.
Retail bags identify the farm, lot, process and tasting notes; the Pinnacle line includes rarer releases. Ask staff for advice on beans for your home brewer. BlendIn also offers classes, cuppings and a coffee compendium.
Food
The café offers croissants, doughnuts, cookies and other pastries alongside coffee, tea and matcha.
The selection of bakes can thin later in the day. Food is limited to light bites.
Service & Room
The Allen Parkway café has large windows, reliable Wi-Fi and tables spread through a bright 1,500-square-foot room. The bar is visible from most seats, with white tile and pale wood throughout.
Staff can explain the processing, espresso choices and retail beans. Parking can be difficult: nearby spaces are limited, street parking may be paid and the lot across the road has towing warnings.
