Goodman Roaster is on Tianyu Street in Tianmu, a residential area in north Taipei. The café has a counter, a few outdoor seats and shelves of beans and brewing equipment.
Goodman is Atsuomi Ito’s roaster brand, with a Taipei roastery and a sibling shop in Kyoto. Its range includes Alishan coffee and international single origins.
Goodman has a second north Taipei shop in Zhishan. It’s the alternative if your route takes you past the MRT there. Tianmu is the small neighbourhood café for a seat outside and a look through the Alishan coffees.
Coffee
Goodman roasts in Taipei using a Diedrich IR12. Its retail range has included Alishan lots such as Yangui farm Geisha, alongside coffees from Colombia and Kenya, blends and espresso roasts.
Espresso and milk drinks are available alongside hand brews. Ask staff which coffees are being served.
Filter
Goodman serves a changing selection of Taiwanese and other single-origin hand brews, with beans to take home. Its brewing guide includes a Kalita 155 recipe.
The selection includes Alishan coffees, some described by visitors as light and tea-like.
Pastry
The food selection is limited to pound cake, scones and other small sweets, with flavours changing by day.
The café offers sweets rather than a full lunch.
Service & Room
The Tianmu café is north of the tourist centre on a quiet residential street. Allow time to reach it by MRT and bus.
Opening hours are short, and the café is listed as closed on Thursdays. It can fill with regulars and is better suited to a short coffee stop or buying beans than a full workday.
