Coffee Five is tucked inside a commercial gallery on Rua da Quitanda in Rio's historic and business centre. A dark counter, high stools and retail bags fill the small space. It is the cafe outlet for Five Roasters, founded by Emerson and Rafaela Nascimento.
Coffee
Brazilian coffees supply the espresso bar and retail range, with changing lots available to take home. Order an espresso, cortado or flat white, or try a single-origin coffee brewed through V60. Cold brew and other coffee-based drinks round out the selection, alongside tea and matcha.
Food
Toasts, sandwiches, pão de queijo and sweets accompany the drinks. The food selection changes, so choose from the current menu; the small room is the main limit for a longer meal.
Service & Room
Gallery access and closely spaced stools make this a compact bar visit. Coffee Five trades on weekdays and closes at weekends. Plan it as a Centro stop, rather than an addition to a Saturday or Sunday itinerary.
Why Filter Notes shortlisted Coffee Five
Choose Coffee Five for Brazilian espresso or V60 and beans from its own roasting company. The weekday schedule and limited seating are worth planning around.
