Taste Barcelona’s roasting scene through espresso, filter and retail beans. These are public cafés serving their own roasts; production may happen at a separate roastery.
NOMAD and Three Marks are useful first stops for seasonal filters. Add Ombú for a smaller Poblenou visit, Dalston for a short El Raval stop, or Cafés El Magnífico for a wider retail browse.
NOMAD Coffee
This review covers NOMAD's Frutas Selectas café at Pujades 95 in Poblenou. Wood, tables, a pastry counter and retail coffee shelves fill the former public roastery space. It is the NOMAD address to choose when you want to sit with coffee and food; Coffee Bar and Petit NOMAD are smaller, separate cafés.
NOMAD Coffee · Poblenou
Start with the house-roasted menu. NOMAD separates coffees by role rather than treating every bag as interchangeable: approachable espresso profiles, filter roasts built for clarity, limited lots, decaf, cold coffee, and retail bags with enough origin and process detail for a curious home brewer. At the bar that translates into espresso, milk drinks, batch brew, and slower cups without making the room feel like a laboratory.
Frutas Selectas serves NOMAD’s espresso and filter ranges, with retail bags and room for a longer visit.
Three Marks' Ausiàs Marc café occupies a bright duplex at number 151 in Fort Pienc. The bar serves the company's own roasted coffees, with retail bags for home. Seats extend across two levels, but this remains a compact café rather than a large workspace.
Three Marks Coffee · Fort Pienc
Espresso and batch brew suit a quick stop. With more time, choose a filter coffee to explore the house roasts, then browse the retail beans for something to brew at home.
Taste Three Marks at its Ausiàs Marc café and compare the seasonal beans on the retail shelf.
D·Origen occupies Gaudí’s Casa Calvet at Casp 48, in the Eixample district just north of Barcelona’s old town. Its own roasted coffee shares the room with retail beans, brewing equipment and furniture made using coffee grounds. The building and those unusual furnishings give you something to look at while waiting for an espresso, filter coffee or breakfast.
D·Origen Coffee Roasters · Casa Calvet
Espresso starts with the Casa Calvet blend, with a monthly single origin as an alternative. Filter drinkers can choose batch brew or ask about the origins and methods available for a hand brew. Cold brew and nitro offer colder options; espresso tonic and orange espresso take the menu beyond straight coffee.
D·Origen’s own roasts are served at the Casp street café. The Barcelona room is a café, not the brand’s Alicante roasting base.
At Argenteria 64 in El Born, in Barcelona’s old town, Cafés El Magnífico is a place to buy coffee as well as drink it. Bags from different origins and brewing equipment fill the shop. Tell the staff how you make coffee at home: the range is organised by characteristics such as acidity, body and roast as well as country of origin.
Cafés El Magnífico · El Born
Cafés El Magnífico roasts its own coffee and sells both single origins and blends, including decaffeinated options. Come for a coffee to go, then browse beans and equipment for brewing at home. Matcha is also sold as a retail product; the shop’s range is broader than its coffee counter.
A broad origin selection and brewing tools at Argenteria, with staff to help match a bag to your home brewer.
Right Side's café is at Arc de Sant Ramon del Call 11, on a narrow street in the Gothic Quarter. Windows bring light into the compact room, which has a coffee counter, limited seating and retail beans. The coffee comes from the company's roastery in Castelldefels.
Right Side Coffee Bar · Gothic Quarter
Espresso and filter share the menu, with rotating coffees and tasting notes to help you choose. This is a useful place to try the roaster’s current selection before picking a bag to take home.
Try Right Side’s coffees at Arc de Sant Ramon del Call. Its Castelldefels roastery is separate from this small public bar.
SlowMov is a house roaster with a café at Neptú 36 in Gràcia. Espresso, filter coffee and retail bags put its own coffees at the centre of a visit. The current room has a broad glazed frontage, pendant lights and tables for a coffee break.
SlowMov · Gracia
Filter is the sharpest order here. SlowMov's house roasting leans clear rather than heavy, and the room suits cups that reward a slower sit. Espresso still has enough structure for a quick stop, and batch filter gives you another way to try the house coffee. Hand-pour availability is not dependable enough to plan a visit around; ask at the counter rather than assuming a V60 is on offer. Coffees change with the season, so ask what is pouring before choosing a bag to take home.
A smaller house-coffee stop with a changing filter selection and beans to take home.
Hidden's original Les Corts café sits at the corner of Constança and Déu i Mata, behind L’Illa Diagonal. Come here for the roaster’s coffees away from the old-city streets, with a terrace when you would rather sit outside. Beans on the shelves make it a useful stop for stocking up as well as drinking in.
Hidden Coffee Roasters · Les Corts
Espresso and filter sit at the centre of the offer, with matcha as another option. Hidden roasts its own coffees at its separate headquarters; this address is the café. Ask what is being served that day before choosing a bag for home. Pastries, sandwiches and bowls give you the choice of a snack or something more substantial alongside your cup.
Taste Hidden’s own espresso or filter coffees, then browse the retail beans at the reviewed Les Corts café.
Morrow occupies a sunny corner of Gran Via at number 403, near Plaça d'Espanya. Window bars and a few tables make the most of the small room. Its own roasted beans are available to drink or buy, with sandwiches and cakes alongside the coffee.
Morrow Coffee · Gran Via, Eixample
Morrow is strongest when you order the cup that shows off the roasting. Espresso, flat white, batch brew, and hand-brew methods such as Aeropress, Chemex, and V60 give the bar enough range for both quick orders and slower filter cups. Filter is a good starting point if you want to explore the beans; espresso and milk drinks keep a shorter visit straightforward.
Morrow’s own coffees, window seating and a compact bean shelf near Plaça d’Espanya.
Sensorial occupies the corner of Llull and Marià Aguiló in Poblenou, east of central Barcelona towards the coast. Windows, a long counter and several tables give the café at Llull 199 room for coffee, breakfast and a longer stay. Its own roasted beans are the thread connecting espresso, batch brew, V60 and the retail shelf.
Sensorial Coffee Roasters · Poblenou
Espresso, flat whites and cortados sit alongside batch brew and V60. Cold brew, dirty chai and matcha widen the choice. For a coffee-focused visit, try a filter and ask the baristas about the beans: their advice extends to which coffee will suit your brewing method at home.
House-roasted espresso and V60 at Llull 199, with more room to sit than the city’s smallest counters.
Ombú BCN is a quiet Poblenou cafe east of Barcelona's old-town routes, with a small counter, pastry case, bright tables, and filter coffee as the main draw. It works best when you have time to sit with a cup, ask what is brewing, and leave with beans if the current lot lands.
Ombú BCN · Poblenou
Ombú's clearest lane is brewed coffee: batch, V60, French press, and the kind of clean cup that rewards a trip beyond the central tourist circuit. Its case rests on European gold for filter coffee at the 2025 Global Coffee Awards in Bordeaux, two Barcelona cafes, and its own retail beans. Espresso and cappuccino still have a place, but the best order is the filter of the day.
Try Ombú’s own beans as V60 or another brewed coffee at Àvila 51, then choose a bag for home.
Dalston's narrow café on Carrer de les Ramelleres, in El Raval on the western side of Barcelona's old town, has little space beyond its coffee counter. Espresso and filter are the main reasons to stop, with pastries and sandwiches for a small breakfast. Expect limited seating and be prepared to take your cup away.
Dalston Coffee Roasters · El Raval
Start with an espresso or flat white, or choose filter coffee for a longer cup. Matcha is also on the menu. The roasting programme covers distinct espresso and filter selections, so a bag of beans can be as much a reason to come as the drink itself.
The tiny Ramelleres café serves Dalston’s own coffee. Its production roastery is in La Garriga, outside Barcelona.
