Persimmon Coffee is a small roaster café on West Girard Avenue in Fishtown, near the Frankford Avenue corridor and Girard Station. The compact room is better suited to a short coffee break than a long laptop session.
The menu includes espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, drip, Japanese flash-brewed iced coffee and pour-over. Decaf is available for espresso drinks. Tea choices include matcha, black tea, persimmon leaf tea and barley tea.
Coffee & Filter
Persimmon began as a coffee release and subscription project before opening its Fishtown café. It focuses on one single-origin coffee each month, generally roasted light.
Choose from drip, flash brew, pour-over and milk drinks such as cappuccinos and cortados. Milk options are limited to whole and oat.
Seasonal drinks and tea
Signature drinks include Midwinter Memory, made with espresso, rosemary-molasses syrup, cranberry bitters, steamed milk and yuzu or yuja powder. Endless Summer is a foamed iced Americano with brown sugar and cranberry bitters; the mocha uses house-made chocolate-caramel syrup.
Matcha and persimmon leaf tea are also available.
Food
Food is limited to croissants and other pastries from Mighty Bread. The 350-square-foot café draws on Korean and Japanese café design, with persimmon-orange details and a few seats.
Service & Room
Visitors praise the service, matcha, flash brew and seasonal drinks, but note that seating is limited. Weekday mornings may be quieter than weekends.
