Manchester / Coffee after work

Cafés open late in Manchester

For a coffee after 6pm, Nomad on Lever Street is the clearest option here: its published hours run until 7pm every day. Fort's nearby Northern Quarter café closes earlier.

Nomad: a coffee before dinner

Head to 24 Lever Street when the coffee stop needs to fit after work. Nomad's official profile lists 7:30am–7pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am–7pm at weekends. Espresso drinks, pastries and sandwiches make it a practical place for a cup and something to eat before the evening continues.

This is an early-evening choice. Aim to arrive with time to order and sit down, and confirm last coffee orders before travelling near closing. Nomad is included here for its verified hours; it has not yet had a full Filter Notes review.

Fort: choose it earlier in the day

Fort is the stronger reason to make time for a focused coffee visit, with a familiar, fruity or funky approach to choosing beans. Its Northern Quarter opening announcement lists a 4:30pm weekday close and 5pm at weekends, so plan that stop before the working day finishes.

The Sevendale House café on Lever Street used to be Northern Pour, and before that Foundation Coffee House. It now trades as Fort. Northern Pour's old 7pm listing for that address should not be used to plan an evening visit.

Our full Fort review covers the original Deansgate café, a smaller stop for filter coffee and pastry. That is a separate branch; its current listing also puts closing time in the afternoon.
