Paradox Design + Coffee occupies a glass-fronted container in Netil Market, beside Broadway Market and just south of London Fields park in east London. A serving hatch faces the market; inside, pink walls surround a few seats, books and bags of coffee. Come to explore the changing roasters, with time to ask what is on the bar before ordering.
Coffee
Paradox works with Special Guests to select exclusive house coffees while continuing to bring in other UK and European roasters. The changing selection spans espresso, batch brew and hand brew.
Start with the batch selection if you want filter without waiting for an individual brew; choose a hand brew when a particular coffee catches your attention. The range extends to unusual processing and occasional Geshas, alongside the familiar flat white. Rose latte and rose matcha offer a floral alternative. Bags on the shelves make it possible to take a favourite coffee home.
Service & Room
Owners Zain and Katherine also work in design, and the adjoining seating space holds books, illustrated cards and small objects to browse. There is a no-laptop policy. Take a seat for a coffee and conversation if one is free, or use the hatch for a takeaway before walking into the park. The market can bring queues, and indoor space is limited. For something more substantial to eat, Netil Market has separate food stalls around the cafe.
Why Filter Notes shortlisted Paradox Design + Coffee
Paradox earns a London Fields detour for the breadth of its guest coffees and the chance to try them by batch or hand brew before buying beans. Choose it for a filter stop and a browse, with a park walk as the fallback when the seats are taken.
