That balance is helpful in Karakoy. You can stop here between a morning around Galata and a later ferry or waterfront walk without committing to a full meal. Order coffee first, then add pastry if the table is yours for longer than planned.

It has the calm of a study hall more than the churn of a tourist coffee queue, with warm lighting, wooden tables, outdoor seating, and enough laptop-friendly signals to make a working pause feel normal. The location helps: Hoca Tahsin is close to busy Karakoy routes, but the street itself lets the cafe breathe.

The late hours are a real planning asset in Istanbul, where many specialty-focused rooms close earlier than the rest of the city wants to stop moving.
