ACID8 occupies a red, two-storey café in the Hạ Hồi lanes, south of Hoàn Kiếm Lake in central Hanoi. Look for the entrance at the side of the building. Inside, large windows face the lane and books line the shelves.
The original café opened in 2019. It roasts Vietnamese and imported beans for espresso and hand brews. Come with time to try both; the small upstairs room has a lower ceiling and less daylight than the window seats below.
Coffee
The iced Americano is the distinctive order: the coffee is aerated before serving, leaving a cap of foam. A flat white is a more familiar starting point. For espresso drinks, the menu separates beans into Single Origin, Specialty and Specialty+ tiers, so ask what each option contains before choosing. The price changes with the coffee.
Vietnamese drinks sit alongside those espresso choices. Đen is black coffee; nâu adds condensed milk; Bạc Sỉu 8 is the milkier iced option. Choose nâu or Bạc Sỉu 8 for a sweeter drink, or ask about the beans for black coffee.
Filter
Seasonal pour-over draws on Vietnamese and imported coffees, including lots with different fermentation and processing methods. Tell the barista whether you prefer fruit, sweetness or a lighter cup, then ask what is available that day.
Service & Room
Baristas take questions about beans and brewing. Books and Wi-Fi make a longer sit possible, though seating is compact. Croissants and cinnamon rolls are available while stocks last; plan a separate stop for a full meal. The Coffee Man by ACID8, on level four of Lotte Mall West Lake, is the other Hanoi address, mapped below.
Why Filter Notes shortlisted ACID8 Specialty Coffee
Choose Hạ Hồi for an aerated Americano followed by a seasonal filter, with a pastry and a seat facing the lane. Daily opening until 19:30 allows an early-evening visit. Plan for one or two people; a large group would struggle in the compact room.
