Origin’s Victoria Street café has terracotta tiles, pale lime-plaster walls and a glass pastry case beside the coffee counter. It sits in Redcliffe, between Temple Meads railway station and Bristol Bridge into the old city. Behind the bar, large windows reveal a separate training room. The wide glass frontage looks onto Victoria Street, with benches outside for a short stop.
This is the Cornish roaster’s Bristol shop, with its own coffees to drink and bags to take home. Stop for a flat white and pastry on the way into town, or order a hand-brewed filter. The food choice is mostly sweet, so plan lunch elsewhere.
Coffee
Origin roasts the coffees in Cornwall and serves a changing selection on espresso here. Ask which beans are available: staff can help you choose between a chocolate-led cup and something fruitier. Flat whites, cortados and long blacks sit alongside decaf, with oat milk available. Batch brew is the quicker filter option; pour-over lets you explore the hand-brewed selection.
Bags of beans and filter papers are sold at the café. Try a coffee at the counter before choosing a bag for home, and ask for a recommendation suited to your brewer. For a guided comparison of origins and processing methods, book one of the scheduled cupping courses in the training room.
Pastry
Croissants, pains au chocolat and cinnamon buns recur in the pastry case, with cardamom buns also appearing. Take a look before ordering rather than arriving for one particular bake. Come for a pastry breakfast or a sweet snack with coffee.
Service & Room
Wooden benches with seat pads and round stools face small tables. Order at the counter, then take a seat to read or talk over a cup. The bench-and-stool seating may be less comfortable for a long stay.
