ONIBUS’s original Bangkok café sits below Once Again Hostel on Soi Samran Rat, in the Pratu Phee part of the old town. Come for the Tokyo roaster’s changing hand-brew selection: this small counter gives you a chance to compare coffees, ask the baristas about the beans and choose a bag for home. The tall glass frontage and timber window bench put the street in view while you drink.
Coffee
The hand-brew selection includes light-roasted coffees from ONIBUS’s Yakumo roastery in Japan, served hot or iced. A recent list paired Rwanda’s washed Mbilima 2503 Soil Project Lot with Guatemala’s washed El Puente Terrazas, alongside coffees from other origins. Those are examples of the changing range, so check the day’s choices and ask how they differ before ordering.
Espresso, lattes and cold brew are also available. If you prefer a fuller, less acidic coffee, say so at the counter. Hand-brew and retail prices can be high; check the particular coffee before ordering.
Cake & the room
Banana bread and small cakes have featured alongside the coffee. Choose from the day’s display if you want something sweet. Inside, a curved wooden counter takes up much of the compact room, with benches by the windows. There is additional seating around the hostel lobby, though the café’s front seats are limited.
Come alone or with a companion for a hand brew before exploring the old town; the small front room is less suitable for a group settling in for a long stay.
