Atomic’s Kingsland café combines a stainless-steel brew bar, breakfast tables and an on-site roastery at 420 New North Road. Kingsland is an inner Auckland neighbourhood west of the city centre; the café is a short walk from its railway station. Come for a tasting tray and breakfast, with time to browse the beans before leaving.
Coffee
Atomic roasts its own blends and single origins. The tasting tray brings together an espresso, a piccolo and a filter sample, so you can compare three preparations without ordering full cups. For a longer black coffee, choose batch brew or a V60; the single-origin selection changes every two months. Check the board or ask what is pouring before ordering.
You can buy beans to take home and ask for a grind suited to your brewer. For espresso machines and servicing, Atomic also has the Rocket Store on Ponsonby Road.
Food
Chilli scrambled eggs, avocado toast and granola with coconut yoghurt cover breakfast, while the brunch menu extends to cured salmon with potato pavé and fried chicken waffles. The cabinet has sandwiches and sweet baking for a smaller order. The kitchen closes at 2pm, an hour before the café.
Service & Room
The roastery is visible from the café, and there are tables inside and along the street. Order at the counter, then settle in for breakfast or watch the roasting team at work. The room can become noisy when busy, particularly over the weekend; allow for a queue if you are stopping before another appointment.
Why Filter Notes shortlisted Atomic Coffee Roasters
Choose Kingsland when you want to compare brewing methods over breakfast at the roastery. The tasting tray is the clearest starting order; leave room for a full cup of the coffee you prefer.
